Further research will include  continued measurements of current samples, in addition to an analysis of samples at a depth of 5 to 15 cm.

A PLFA analysis will be conducted to examine the type, and extent of microorganisms in different ecosystem types, and determine if there is an effect on the rate of carbon mineralization.
